Hannu Huhtamo is a photographer and musician from Helsinki, Finland.
“In a few words, all of my works are made with a photographic technique called “light painting” aka “light graffiti”. It’s a technique in which long exposures are made in low light, usually at night or in a darkened room / environment by moving different kinds of hand held light sources. Darkness is the canvas and light is my brush. Like many others, I get my best kicks from nature. By contrast I also use a lot of urban landscapes and places in my work. For example ugly ruins of a house look much more beautiful and interesting after some light treatment. I try to keep my pictures as natural as it’s possible, usually straight from the camera. I think that’s where the magic is, at least for me.”
